Infantry First

In 2006, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantryman. I served out of 29 Palms, California, with deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. I held roles as a Radio Operator and Company Clerk, managing critical information for 200 personnel.

The Marines didn't teach me to code - but they taught me everything else that makes me good at this job. Discipline, accountability, showing up when it's hard, and seeing the mission through.

Up the Ladder

After my service, I started from the ground floor. My first civilian dev role was as a Programmer at a credit union - PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and a lot of figuring things out. From there, I moved into a full web developer role at ProTrainings, where I cut my teeth on Ruby on Rails, Docker, payment integrations, and systems serving hundreds of thousands of users.

By 2018, I was Lead Backend Developer at ddm marketing, architecting solutions for enterprise clients like Stryker and Metro Health, building Vue.js SPAs, and leading projects from planning through delivery.

Each role added a new layer - a new language, a new framework, a new set of problems to solve. During each step, I realized I wanted more control over how problems get solved and clients got served.

Builder by Nature

In 2021, I went independent. After being remote throughout the COVID pandemic, I had adapted to the new remote-first environment. I started consulting for agencies and direct clients, and in 2024, I acquired SampleWeighting.com, a SaaS platform for survey data processing. I now own and operate it under my company, Persimmon Systems LLC.

As of 2026, I am still contracting while developing ideas and side projects. I am open to work on contracts for companies, agencies, and individuals who need help launching their dream app.
